RACE RESULTS FOR THE 20KM here: 20KM Results

Returning: January 14, 2017!!!

We were very pleased with the inaugural Fat Tire Festival and are excited for 2017!

Event Description

Following last year’s hugely successful kick-off to Fat Biking at Albion, the second annual festival will again feature the low price of $30 or $40, including a chili lunch, and a FREE beer to all participants. Outdoor bonfire, manufacturer demos and upbeat music will complete the festival atmosphere. Because of the nature of Fat bikes, the weather can vary greatly without hugely affecting the event.  Last year was a touch icy, so spiked tires are a great thing to have in your arsenal.   Albion is designating the entire park to fat biking for all of Saturday!

You don’t have to register to be a part of it!  Come ride demo bikes and enjoy the day for the mere park fee of $6.50!

Key event components

20 km race (Race starts at 10am, see schedule tab)

For the ardent, a timed, 20km race will wind through a mix of Single and Doubletrack throughout Albion. If conditions permit, more singletrack can be added. The race will do two laps of 10km each, providing spectatorship as they roll through  NEW for 2017 – The 20km race will start 1 Hour before the Poker Run!  The last rider allowed out on their last lap will be 2 minutes prior to the Poker Run, so no one will be passing the poker run!!

Rules:  3 inch or larger tires MUST be used.

10 Ride/Poker Run (Ride starts at 11am, see schedule tab)

The 10 km will feature an untimed, poker run. Riders will gather 6 to 8 cards or numbers at separate, manned locations throughout the park (many with bonfires),  their best 6 going into a hand, winning hand wins a top-level fat bike, while the next best win a variety of prizes. Also as part of the fun, a costume contest within the 10 km event will be judged and awards given!  Dress up!  It’s Fun!

Rules: We are not enforcing any tire size rules for the Poker Run, even if you have a normal bike you’re welcome to try it, however we encourage plus bikes (3″ tires) up to the bike 4+ inch beasts!

Manufacturer demos (Open to public, just pay park fee of $6.50!)

A short, 2.5km track will be marked for rider demos. All manufacturers will be welcome to set up and display their products and allow for demo rides. Due to the duration of the poker run or race, demo bikes will not be made available to use for the race.  Some rentals may be available from Albion Hills.  Call them for information.  Manufacturers include:
